This one smells exactly like its name, but it’s not a gimmick. \u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003eHammersmith Tea and Biscuits is a scent about British survival tactics. Someone’s crying, put the kettle on. Global disaster, tea and a biscuit. Awkward silence, milk, one sugar.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003cem\u003eThe fragrance was made as a kind of olfactory love letter to the 4160Tuesday studio in Hammersmith. It’s a grounded, oddly moving scent built around black tea with oat milk. Wholemeal lemon and ginger biscuits and toasted hazelnuts. There’s a little cinder toffee in there too, but nothing sugary or cloying.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003cem\u003eIt opens warm and slightly crumbly like a biscuit just pulled from the tin, and then the tea note wraps around it. What makes it interesting is that it doesn’t lean into dessert territory. The wholemeal flour and bran keep it grounded. It smells like a hug. Here is the story of Hammersmith Tea \u0026amp; Biscuits:\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eWe moved to our Hammersmith studio in September 2019, and our perfumer, Sarah, wanted to honour the London Borough which became our new home. She made a collection of fragrances, of which Hammersmith Tea \u0026amp; Biscuits was the first. Two others were Court of Ravens and Brackenbury.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eHammersmith is on the River Thames, home to the Apollo, two tube stations with the same name, and a wide and varied range of people and eating places, and we all muddle along together.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eShe made Tea \u0026amp; Biscuits as a symbol of the British way of making friends and getting through a crisis, which Hammersmith seems to epitomise. The biscuits featured are wholemeal lemon and ginger with toasted hazelnuts. The tea is black, with oat milk.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eIt was almost finished when our friend, philosopher\/perfumer\/walking-perfumery-encyclopedia Harry Sherwood came to visit, bringing some brilliant biscuit accords of his own. He suggested adding our bran absolute to give it more fibre, and so it was complete.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eWe like to wear Hammersmith Tea \u0026amp; Biscuits to remind us to offer empathy and friendship. Super well done for the concept it's going for! Very much like real tea time in countries that do that with the plates of biscuits sitting out, and fresh black tea. I normally dislike black tea notes but this is well balanced with the bread-y biscuit sweetness, and I think it's great!
